Lisa Vandenburgh

Lisa Vandenburgh grew up in Connecticut where her love of art and antiques began while exploring flea markets, antique shops, galleries and museums. After receiving her degree in interior design, she joined the firm of William Hodgins Inc. as a designer. Five years later, in 1984, Lisa founded her own Boston-based firm, Lisa Vandenburgh Ltd. In 1998 the firm relocated to Washington, DC. LVL is located in the historic Flour Mill building in Georgetown’s Design District.

Lisa’s work has been published in a wide variety of publications – House Beautiful, Southern Living and Veranda as well as being included in The Washingtonian list of “The Best Interior Designers of Washington”.

Clients of Lisa Vandenburgh Ltd. are served by Lisa together with her team of designers, project managers and support staff. This group works closely with architects, builders and artisans to provide superior talent and service. Her clients benefit from this longstanding collaboration – the foundation for extraordinary design.

“There is nothing more satisfying to me than the process of turning a client’s vision of their dream house into a reality. Each design plan is crafted in a way which respects the individual tastes and needs of the client. I approach my work with a consideration towards aesthetic sensibility, creative flair, comfort and practicality. As a designer, I am always seeking fresh ways to interpret and improve upon old ideas. Frequently, I draw inspiration from my travels, but I also look to my clients and my talented team for inventiveness and innovation. Careful listening, attention to detail, a sense of fun and a willingness to draw outside the lines are some of the guiding principles which have helped me and my team ensure the success of our projects over the last 30 years. Interior design continues to be my joy and my passion”. – Lisa Vandenburgh
